Aspiring Actors Invited to Join Mark McGann Workshop at Lake District Film Festival
Aspiring actors looking to build careers in film and television are being invited to take part in a specialist screen acting workshop led by actor, director and filmmaker Mark McGann in the Lake District.
The workshop will form part of the Inward Eye Film Festival, which will take place at Zeffirellis in Ambleside from November 12 to 14, 2026.
McGann, who has extensive experience across film, television and theatre, will work directly with participants to develop their on-camera performances and help them understand the demands of professional screen acting.
During the workshop, participants will perform original scenes written by McGann. The scenes will be filmed with a small professional crew and professionally edited into showreel material that actors can use to showcase their abilities to casting professionals.
Each participant will receive their original scene in advance, allowing them time to prepare before filming. The initiative aims to provide meaningful screen acting opportunities for drama school graduates and experienced performers who are seeking to secure leading roles in film and television.
Festival organiser Charlotte Wontner of Hopscotch Films said the workshop was designed to give actors practical experience and high-quality material to support their professional development.
The Inward Eye Film Festival brings together filmmakers, writers, actors and film enthusiasts for a programme celebrating cinema and storytelling. This year's festival will feature feature films, documentaries, short films, question-and-answer sessions, writing workshops, live music and special screenings.
The programme is also expected to include an outdoor screening of Gladiator, alongside films such as Josephineand a remastered release of Young Frankenstein.
The festival aims to create opportunities for audiences and creative professionals to connect while celebrating filmmaking in the Lake District.
