Police Close Maryport Coastal Road Due to Dangerous Conditions
A coastal road in Maryport has been closed by police because of dangerous conditions following the impact of Storm Boelo.
Salmoor Road is currently shut from the Marine Road junction towards the shoreline at the request of Cumbria Police.
The closure has been introduced as a safety precaution amid concerns about hazardous conditions along the West Cumbrian coast. Strong winds and rough seas associated with the storm have created risks for people visiting coastal areas.
Maryport Marina and Harbourside Caravan Site have urged residents and visitors to stay away from the shoreline and avoid the affected area entirely until conditions improve.
Members of the public have also been asked to respect all road closures, barriers and instructions issued by emergency services.
Storm Boelo has caused widespread disruption across Cumbria, with strong winds, heavy rainfall, flooding and fallen debris affecting several communities. Coastal areas have faced additional challenges from rough seas and waves.
Authorities continue to urge the public to put safety first and avoid exposed coastal locations while dangerous conditions persist.
The road will remain closed until further notice. Residents and visitors should follow official updates before attempting to access the affected area.
