Flood Warning Issued for Keswick Campsite as Alerts Remain Across Cumbria

26 Oct 2026 Flood Warning Issued for Keswick Campsite as Alerts Remain Across Cumbria

Flood warnings and alerts remain in place across parts of Cumbria on Monday, 26 October, following heavy rainfall and disruption caused by recent stormy weather.

According to the latest update from Cumbria Crack, a flood warning has been issued for the Keswick Campsite area beside Derwentwater, where elevated lake levels have increased the risk of flooding.

The warning follows rainfall across the Borrowdale catchment, which has contributed to rising water levels around the lake. Low-lying land and the campsite area are particularly at risk.

Flood alerts are also in place across several coastal areas, including Barrow, the Duddon Estuary, North Morecambe Bay, the coastline from Gretna to Silloth, the coast from Silloth to St Bees, and the stretch between St Bees Head and Haverigg.

Additional alerts cover river catchments, including the Brathay, Rothay and Winster rivers, as well as the Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater. These areas may experience flooding on low-lying land, local roads and riverside or lakeside footpaths.

Authorities are advising people to avoid low-lying paths and bridges close to watercourses. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians should never attempt to cross flooded roads or paths, as water levels and currents can be dangerous.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to monitor official flood updates and follow any local safety advice. Conditions may change as water levels respond to rainfall and other weather conditions.

People planning to visit the Lake District should check the latest warnings before travelling, particularly if their routes pass near rivers, lakes or coastal areas.

The Environment Agency continues to provide updates on flood risks across the county.
