Barrow RNLI Gala To Go Ahead With Venue Change.
The annual Barrow RNLI gala is going ahead today despite challenging weather conditions, with organisers making a last-minute change to the venue.
The event, which will run from 11am to 3pm, has been moved to Rampside Village Hall and the lifeboat station. The change will allow the planned activities to continue while providing a more suitable location for visitors.
Visitors can expect a range of stalls and attractions throughout the afternoon. These include RNLI souvenirs, cakes, refreshments, plants, books and a raffle, alongside activities such as face painting, live music and tombolas. The Walney Coastguard Rescue Team will also be attending the event, giving visitors an opportunity to meet members of the local emergency response community and learn more about their work.
Despite the change of venue, Barrow RNLI is still planning to launch its lifeboat this afternoon. The launch is expected to form an important part of the day's programme and highlight the vital role played by the volunteer lifeboat crew in protecting people around the local coastline.
Organisers are encouraging local residents and supporters to continue backing the gala and the work of Barrow RNLI. The event provides an opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy a range of family-friendly activities and support the lifesaving work carried out by the lifeboat station.
The venue change demonstrates the organisers' determination to keep the celebration running despite the weather, ensuring the community still has the chance to support RNLI volunteers and enjoy the planned attractions.
