Speeding Cars Spark Safety Fears as Children Play on Bikes in Millom

17 Oct 2026 Speeding Cars Spark Safety Fears as Children Play on Bikes in Millom

Residents in Millom have raised fresh concerns about road safety following reports of motorists travelling at excessive speeds while children were playing nearby.

The issue has added to growing frustration among local people over speeding and anti-social driving in and around the town.

Residents have previously reported noisy and speeding vehicles on a number of streets across Millom, with concerns particularly focused on the potential danger posed to pedestrians, cyclists and young people.

Local police records show that speeding and anti-social driving have remained recurring concerns throughout 2026. Officers have carried out mobile and foot patrols, vehicle checks and speed monitoring operations in Millom and surrounding communities.

Police have also received reports of cars and motorbikes being driven at speed through residential streets, alongside complaints about excessively loud exhausts.

The latest concerns are particularly worrying for families, as children frequently use residential areas for cycling and outdoor play.

Residents are being encouraged to continue reporting incidents of dangerous or anti-social driving to police so that problem locations can be identified and appropriate enforcement action considered.

Road safety and anti-social driving remain priorities for policing in the Millom and South Copeland area.
