Stagecoach Offers Free Bus Travel to Veterans Across Cumbria
Stagecoach is continuing its support for the Armed Forces community by offering free bus travel to veterans across Cumbria, helping former service personnel take part in remembrance activities.
The bus operator has a longstanding commitment to recognising the sacrifices made by serving military personnel and veterans. Its free travel initiatives provide an opportunity for eligible passengers to attend local commemorations and community events without worrying about transport costs.
Stagecoach has previously offered free travel across its Cumbria and North Lancashire network for military personnel, veterans and cadets on special occasions, including VE Day and Armed Forces Day.
Eligible passengers may be required to present appropriate identification. Veterans can generally demonstrate their eligibility using a recognised veterans’ badge or military medal, while serving personnel may need to wear uniform or show a valid military identification card, depending on the specific offer.
The initiative reflects Stagecoach’s wider commitment to supporting members of the Armed Forces community, both as passengers and employees. The company also supports its workforce through an employee-led Veterans Network, which provides a platform for veterans and military family members to share experiences and promote a more inclusive workplace.
Stagecoach has been a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant since 2015, formally recognising the contribution of serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families to the country.
The company’s support highlights the role local transport providers can play in helping communities honour those who have served.
